who we are.

i am april. i'm a feminist mama to my nearly-4 month old daughter, asa. my partner is cameron, a lovely man who loves his daughter very much.

asa was born on september 2, 2012. her delivery was very difficult, after a fairly easy pregnancy.

i had intended to blog as a way to process my pregnancy, but i didn't need to. my pregnancy with asa was mostly uneventful and in some ways, downright pleasant.

the stuff i'd need to process would come later, after her birth.

learning to be this little girl's mama has been overwhelmingly difficult. a bad birth/recovery, bad breastfeeding, and bad depression made the first few months challenging, to say the least. we're getting by, day by day, and i love her more every time i see her big brown eyes and goofy grin.

so, rather than writing about the intimate ecology of growing a new life inside, i'll write about the intimate ecology of building a home and a family with the two people i love most in the world.
